Blog Candy! February 9, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — A Little Less Useless @ 2:11 pm

Hi everyone! If you come by my blog often you will know that I do up little packs of blog candy for every 100th comment! So the last one was at 300 comments! Well I am about to hit 400 comments, but instead of cranking out some candy, I am going to put together a bigger and better pack than usual and add to it until I hit 500 comments! That way the lucky winner will really have their sweet tooth satisfied! :) So please keep commenting! I love hearing what you have to say! Happy crafting!

Mojo Monday Birthday February 9, 2010

Tonight I have been working on this weeks sketch from Mojo Monday. I went with a birthday theme!

I used a TCP image for this card, and paper pieced the cupcake together. There is a TCP blog hop happening at the moment with paper piecing, and seeing as I got some TCP stamps in the mail last week I thought I should use them.

My colours are Riding Hood Red, Kraft and Choc Chip. I couldnt resist making a little box to match.

Here is a close up of the image and the paper pieced cupcake. I layered the pieces up on dimensionals to give it a bit of a 3D look. Here is another photo.

Dont you love that ribbon? Its retired (unfortunetly) Stampin’ Up!® ribbon from the Spring Mini!

Its hard to see but under my HUGE bow is the little tab that is in the sketch! :)

Hope you like! Have a lovely day and happy crafting!

Play Date Colours! February 9, 2010

Finally I have created using the challenge colours over at The Play Date Cafe.  They are tricky this week, I started a couple of days ago, but it went no where. Today I thought I would try on another angle and see how I go, I like this much better. Its ultra simple but I think it works. Here are the colours:

See ultra tricky, designed to get our brains working I think. :) last night I was working out how to go with these colours, so firstly I was thinking a masculine card, but when I sat down it turned into a card for a girl! Its my cousin’s partners birthday today ( :) ) This is what I came up with!

What do you think? Nice enough for a girls birthday? :)

I wanted to add some ribbon or something, but I just didnt have anything that matched well enough.

I have gone with the rustic feel again. Much like I did yesterday. I think I like it. Speaking of yesterday….. (my other card was for Karen’s sketch at The Sweetest Thing) check out my new watermark! Cute hey! If you want an easy way of getting them go to Karen. She is ultra fast and they are so cute!

Happy crafting to you all!

Super Sweet Sunday! February 8, 2010

So I am having a fabulous week so far! LOL and its only Monday! Why is it fabulous I hear you ask! ;) Well really for no obvious reason. I havent won the lotto, no one has had a baby, its not my birthday. People are just making it fabulous, and its great! Firstly I am still a little rapped about the OCC thing! Thats cool, unfortunetly I dont think my bird card was my best work, and super efficient me was so quick with the next challenge at OCC that I posted first, and my card was a big fat flop, but because my name is first and because of the shout out so many people have come by my blog! Oh well. I hope they had a proper look around! :) Then the only other really nice things have been some really nice comments on my blog and a nice, just touching base, email that I got! So all in all, nothing exciting but its making my week.
So I am here to post my card for Karen’s sketch over at The Sweetest Thing! If you come by here often you will know I LOVE her sketches, but you may have also noticed that I usually dont produce the greatest cards with them. Not really sure why, maybe because I am so excited to do them I am way to fast so dont take the care I should, or maybe because Karen’s example is always so awesome I cant compete. I dont know. But today, today I think I nailed it. I am Happy! :)

What do you think? Its a little different to a lot of my creations. But I am really happy with it!

It went totally rustic without me trying for that look. I started with the circle which is Summer Sun in colour. I used my scor-pal and Bone Folder to score lines in a cross hatch pattern on it. Then I spounged over it in Creamy Caramel and Choc Chip.

Then I cut the square out of Kraft and trimmed the edges round. I spounged this bit alot with Choc Chip. The stamped flower is in Choc Chip, Close to Cocoa and Creamy Caramel. Then I stamped three more flowers on the Summer Sun card and spounged them too. (alot of spounging) I stamped the butterfly with Choc Chip and then spounged over it in Creamy Caramel.

Trying to decided what to do with the background was hard. I decided ultra simple. So cut a card back with Choc Chip. With a piece of scrap I cut two little rectangles for either side of the main middle bit. I spounged them with Choc Chip, and then using my scor-pal and dotto I made all those raised dots which I spounged over too. They then attached on each side of the card base which was spounge too. :) Are you picking up on a theme here? LOL

Then finally I attached the front bits. I had to add something, and I hadnt put on a sentiment yet so I punched a tag and cut it in half, I spounged it and stamped “for you” on it and tied it on with some Hemp Twine and a Brad.

Wow that was a lot of typing! :) Hope you like. Happy crafting to you all! Have a fantastic day and week where ever you are and what ever you are doing!

Lurve Notes February 8, 2010

I am back with another UStamp project. I am cranking it up a bit with them now which is nice. Nothing worse than paying for an awesome course and not getting around to doing anything from it. So I teamed it up with the colour combo challenge over at Stacey’s Stampin Stage Her colours were Kraft, Real Red and Very Vanilla. I am so running out of all my favourite colours at the moment so it was nice to have a challenge with colours I dont use all the time.

This is the front of the little pocket thing that I created to hold the notes.

I wasnt sure how to decorate it, so I went with little Love heart Flowers! something a little different.

Here is the inside of the little pocket.

More love hearts! :)

I had to post this photo, even though it makes me look a little silly to say the least. I made the whole thing was ready to take the photos and realised I hadnt stamped the envelopes.  I did that took it to take the photo, put the envelopes  in and…..They were too big! :( Oh dear, what a wally I am! Oh well cant be helped!

Thanks for dropping by my blog I love sharing my crafts with you all! Happy crafting to you, hope you find some inspiration!

Today was a double-take day on UStamp. That means you get two projects in one day! Both awesome! :) I have managed to get one done so far. This is what I created.

Its cute hey? Its ultra 3D

Here’s some more shots of it.

I used the little fly from the Hoppy For You set and added a little stinger to him to make him look like a bee, it didnt quite work as good as I hoped but oh well, you get the drift. :)

Ok well better get off here and back to crafting as the day is getting away from me and I wanted to be ultra productive today! Happy crafting to you all!

I {heart} Jen’s Sketches February 7, 2010

So did you know that Jen has started up her sketches over at I{heart}2stamp? How exciting!

Here is my attempt at the first sketch for february 2010

Arent these flowers just so awesome? No I am not tooting my own trumpet, I am telling you that you have to go past Corie’s blog and look at her tutorial here to see how to make them.

I saw them and knew I just had to make one. I had a sketch in mind to use them with and then when I saw Jen’s sketch I knew I had to use them for this card because it meant I could make three. :)

Arent they just so puffy!

I made them using DSP from the Raspberry Tart Pack. I love that DSP! The back ground layers are DSP from the same pack as well as Kiwi Kiss Card and Rose Red Card.

I stamped the sentiments from the Wonderful Favourites with my Versa Mark pad and embossed them with White Embossing powder.

I wanted to use Rose Red Ribbon to match the card but all I had was this wide one. It looked wrong just plain and a bow was out of the question with the flowers on there so I opened up a brad from the Hodgepodge Hardware set and wrapped it around the ribbon. What do you think? Does it work?

I punched out Kiwi Kiss corners with my photo corner punch, spounged them and attached with silver brads.

Here is a close up of the flowers themselves.

You arent supposed to be able to see the brads in the middle, these ones were working well until I stuck them down and pushed them in the middle, whoops then I couldnt get the petals together again.

Hope you are having some crafty time, thanks for dropping by my blog

Happy crafting to you all! :)

This weeks inspiration challenge at OCC is Male Valentines! Could they think of anything harder! LOL :) I used the sketch over at Just Add Ink to create mine.

It didnt turn out how I wanted it to. I think I should have made the backing a different colour. Maybe if it wasnt blue it would make the hearts stand out more! Oh well can always make it again later! :)

I just love the “wonderful” stamp from the Wonderful Favourites set! Dont you?

This is a close up of all the hearts. I used my Xyron sticker machine to make the bigger ones stick and then stuck some ontop with Stampin Dimensionals! Happy Crafting where ever you are! Have a fantastic day!

I am totally inspired, my last stamp club is meeting in two weeks and we are making something a bit extra special. I have it planned in my head down to every colour, stamp, fold everything….but I cant start getting it ready because the things I need are currently en-route from Stampin’ Up!®. So to feed my inspiration I went blog hopping. I found a valentine sketch challenge at a place called Crazy 4 Challenges. Sounds a bit like me doesnt it?! Their challenge was to make a Valentine card. This is what I came up with.

The image is a Bee Crafty one. I printed it on Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Pink Passion and Creamy Caramel and paper pieced it together. I did want to make the flowers Real Red, but apparently my printer didnt like that idea and refused to print on it…Hmmm… dont push my buttons printer I might trade you in! :)

Here’s the front on view, its a little easier to see the layout from this angle.

Isnt the image just so cute? I love the little  birdie on top.

I layered the Very Vanilla on Old Olive and Pink Passion and the Card is a folded piece of Creamy Caramel.

All the pieces are attached using Stampin Dimensionals apart from the pink flowers which I have stuck with glue dots.

Heres a close up so you can see it sitting off the Very Vanilla.

The sentiment is from the Wonderful Favourites set and the little heart is from I {heart} hearts. Dont forget $2 from every set of I {heart} hearts until Feb 28th goes to the Haiti Relief fund!

Hope you are all in the mood for a little love! Happy Crafting!

Colour Challenge Valentine February 6, 2010

Before I throw myself into my post with pictures and what I made and who for I want to say WOW! I just got the loveliest comment from Jennifer Meyer from Our Creative Corner. Not only did she say she Loved my card – which is a huge compliment she also told me to check back with OCC tomorrow as my card will be featured for the week. Whoo Hoo! What an honour! So no need to say I am totally excited and cant wait! Oh yeah its the little bird card I made for the musical challenge.. . :) So I will be checking there tomorrow for sure!

So now for my post! :)

I came across a great colour challenge on Pals Paper Art. Melon Mambo, Pretty In Pink and Basic Black. We dont have Melon Mambo over here so I substituted it with Rose Red. This is what I created!

Its a little matchbox style box. The draw and the box is made with Basic Black Textured card. I layered Pretty in Pink and Rose Red card  on top. I used the Boho Blossom Punch and punched a heap of flowers in Pretty in Pink.

I used one and a rhinestone brad from the Pretties Kit for the draw handle.

This is the top of the box. I used a small piece of Hemp Twine and threaded on some pearls also from the Pretties Kit.

The middles of the flowers are all different. Some are Rose Red Brads, some are Pretty In Pink brads some are Rhinestone ones and One is a half pearl. Think I went a little nuts with them! :)

I wrapped a piece of Rose Red double stitched ribbon around the box.

I have to think of something to put in it now! Hmmmm…. :)

Hope you are having a lovely day, I sure am! ;) Happy crafting and have a great day!
